Unvented Hot Water Systems.

London Gasworks engineers are fully qualified to install unvented hot water systems. Unvented hot water systems are simpler to install than traditional vented systems as there are less components and reduced pipe work. However it is important that a suitably qualified installer such as one of our engineers is selected to ensure that the system delivers maximum performance and safety.

Benefits of unvented hot water systems.

With unvented systems, there are no storage tanks in the loft and they are not reliant on booster pumps to give performance for showering. They also offer many advantages over the traditional systems aside from shower performance, such as...

  • the loft space can be used as an extra room as there is no need for a storage tank and ancillary fittings.
  • powerful showering with increased choice of fittings such as body jets and hydro-massage units. balanced, high pressure to all outlets.
  • reduced risk of freezing and costly damage.*
  • drinking water at all outlets as every cold water tap is fed directly from the mains water supply. lower insurance premiums due to absence of stored water in the loft.
  • no risk of contamination or stagnation as water is sealed from the atmosphere.
  • less noise - no ball-cock in loft with tank to fill each time hot water is drawn.
  • Average water pressure from a traditional 'vented' system with a loft tank is 0.3 bar - the same as water falling from 10 feet. Average water pressure from an 'unvented' system is 3 bar - the same as water falling from 100 feet.

London Gasworks can fit most manufacturers hot water unvented systems including Ariston, Glow-worm and Heatrae Sadia (Megaflo).

Robust and built to last, Glow-worm provide a wide range of mains fed unvented hot water cylinders that are designed to work with any UK boiler - not just the Glow-worm range - in open vent and sealed systems. Each manufactured from high grade stainless steel with laser welded seams, guaranteed against steel shell perforation for 25 years. All Glow-worm cylinders have excellent insulation that achieves heat loss as low as 1.7kWh and a high recovery heating coil that reheats the cylinder in as little as 20 minutes.

Key Features.
